Acronis Server Backup and Restore Process
Step 1- Create a test file in the VM.

Step 2- Run the backup on the VM.

Step 3- Wait for the backup to finish.

Step 4- Delete the test VM after taking the backup.



Step 5- Start the restore process. Go to Actions > Recovery

Step 6- Go to More ways to recover > Download ISO image > Generate Registration Token > Select User > Select the protection plan > Click on Generate token > Copy to clipboard.
The ISO image is downloaded after these steps.
Step 7- Go to Vcenter > Go to datastore > Upload file > Select the ISO image
The ISO image will be uploaded.

Step 8- Go to the VM tab > Go to testing server > Right click to New Virtual Machine > Select “Create a new virtual machine” click Next > Give it a name > Select the computer resource/host > Select storage > Select compatibility > Select Guest OS > Select hardware – Input the configuration of the machine that is being restored and select the network > Click Next > Review the configuration and click Finish.



Step 9- Right click on the new VM created and go to Edit settings > CD/DVD drive 1 > Datastore ISO file > Go to backup datastore > select ISO file > select Connect at Power On.

Step 10- Go to VM Options > Boot Options > Firmware – BIOS > Select Force BIOS Setup > Press OK.

Step 11- Right clock on the machine and Power it on > Launch Console.
BIOS setup menu will show up and exit the configuration changes.

Step 12- Go to Rescue Media. The recovery process will start.


Step 13- Select Register media > Input Registration token. Click Register.

Step 14- Go to Manage this machine locally > Tools > Configure Network > Deselect Auto Configuration and input the IP address and Subnet Mask – 255.255.255.0 > Input default gateways and DNS > Click OK. Check for network connection.

Step 15- Select Recover > Select data > Browse > Login > Select folder > Input Archive password given.


Step 16- Select the latest backup file > Go to Backup contents and select Disks > Select all the disks shown and press OK. Information about the disks will be show. Press OK again.


Step 17- The recovery process will start and when it is complete, the task details will be displayed.
